Mobile Emergency Response Plan (MERP)
MERP is a web-based platform alowing users to create, access, customize and revise their emergency response plans 24/7 by incorporating the newest ideas and the most up-to-date technology and features. MERP is accessed through smart phones, tablets, and PC's - saying "goodbye" to those costly and often outdated flipcards and printed plans.

MERP allows you to take your emergency plans from the 3 ring binder or flip chart in the principal's or Campus Security office and put them in the classrooms accessible directly in the hands every faculty, staff (and possibly student) in your educational institution.

All plans are 100% editable 24/7 and will be customized to your educational system. MERP meets every U.S Department of Education and Homeland Security standard, reduces risks & liability, and eliminates costly printing and updates.
Campus Safety Magazine has awarded their "BEST" honor for the development and implementation of this plan.

The Glenn A. Gaines Memorial Award for Excellence in Campus Fire Prevention
The Glenn A. Gaines Memorial Award for Excellence in Campus Fire Prevention is presented annually to those campuses or fire departments who unselfishly contributed to the greater good by providing effective fire safety education through program development, delivery, organization, and creativity in an effort to reduce the number fires on campus and in off campus student housing.

This award is named after Chief Glenn Gaines, the former Deputy U.S. Fire Administrator for the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA). Chief Gains had a strong commitment to campus fire safety and fire prevention. He was always interested in listening to success stories related to campus fire prevention and in-turn, he would offer thoughtful insights on what steps a campus community should work towards to help better protect students across the nation.

The 2015 award winner will be announced at the 13th Annual Campus Fire Safety and Emergency Management Conference and Expo. For more information about the The Glenn A. Gaines Memorial Award please Click Here.

Hard work pays off - we are experiencing "Safer Campuses Todays"
Over the last decade there has been a downward trend to on-campus related fires and fire fatalities since its highest in 2006-2007 with 20 on-campus deaths.

The last fatal fire in a "Greek House" (fraternity/sorority) was 2006 and the last fatal residence hall fire occurred in 2005.
Off-campus housing is still a great concern and serious risk for students.

Emergency Management (EM) and the All Hazards Approach
With the recent statistics show a significant downward trend to fire and related incidents on campus,
we have re-focused our efforts to include an "All Hazard" approach; expanding our focus to include emergency preparedness, emergency management, and general safety.

Our organizational mission is to provide the resources and expertise necessary to prepare for, respond to, recover from, and prevent the loss of life and/or property from unexpected emergencies.

Campus EM Ready! - We are working to help develop, build and implement EM programs on campus.

Every Student Goes Home

As you start winding down this academic school year many students are preparing to move "off campus" and seek housing arrangements for the next step in their lives. We want to turn our focus and efforts on creating an environment free from the dangers of fire, and fire related injuries & fatalities to our nations future.

One of the goals all educational institutions have across the world is that at the end of the school year - Every Student Goes Home! Our goal is a combined effort for unified safety on and off campus through education and an educational dialog between students, parents, campus administrators, housing officials (both on and off campus) and the local fire department.

Join us in the efforts to create a unified nationally accepted plan for protecting our students. If you have an interest in volunteering and supporting our efforts as part of our technical team, we are currently recruiting subject matter experts and corporate sponsorship to develop this national campaign and to work on our off campus fire death taskforce. Please e-mail Randy Hormann (info below) with your desire to participate and please include a small bio and or resume.

Fatal Fires on Campus
Unfortunately over the years, we have experienced and suffered a number of fire tragedies involving college students both on and off campus.

Many of these deaths could have been prevented. We ask you to help empower those around you to adopt fire-safety habits and education for students, parents, campus administrators, those who regulate on campus housing and those who rent to students off campus.

Here is a map showing fatal (campus) fires across the county. Click on this map for specific information on each fire. This information is provided by CFW.
